What is Electrocoagulation?
Applying the science of electrochemistry in a useful,
reliable industrial-quality equipment is what we do. We've used our own
electroplating plant as a
research environment and have employed the scientific support of universities and others.
Our own lab, equipped with bench-scale units and a variety of analytical
equipment including atomic absorption analyzer (AA), allows us to
experiment and develop the technology. The proof is
ultimately in the success of our many industrial installations.
Why Use Electrocoagulation?
One of the biggest reasons is the awesome
treatment performance - steel plate electrochemistry can achieve some
very good contaminant removal rates. How about ease of use?
No chemicals are required in typical installations. Re-use
installations require some pH adjustment, but no other reagents and no
polymer and no biocides. No messy filters. And the list goes
on. Download the "Benefits" and "Comparison" articles for more
good reasons.
Consumables:
There are some costs of operating any water treatment system.
There are two consumables using KASELCO EC. One is the steel
plates. Fresh-water hull washing and equipment washing facilities
can experience in excess of 350 hours on a set of plates. Use the
information on the "KASELCO EC Consumables" document (download) to
estimate power consumption and energy cost. |
Proven Science, Proven
Technology: Our EC systems use the
science of electrochemistry to its fullest potential (no pun intended!).
This is not trial-and-error, it is not an experiment. Real, proven,
well-developed electro-chemistry is the backbone of KASELCO Electrocoagulation.
It is not some hopeful arrangement of steel plates or tubes with polymer added
to make the water look good. The KASELCO One-Pass EC
Mini-Package: We call it "One-Pass"
because that's all it takes for Marina wash water and bilge water treatment and
many other of our typical applications. Marina wash waters
and bilge waters are KASELCO "Slam Dunk" wastes.
The Mini-Package is a complete
treatment unit with waste water feed pump, piping and valve system,
electrical and control system, and the treatment reactor inside a
weather-proof enclosure.
The KASELCO Mini-Package Marina System:
Complete pre-engineered packaged treatment systems of different flow
rate and daily volume capacities for indoor or outdoor use, and
containerized for the ultimate in simple installation (and portability).
These packaged systems include the waste pH adjustment tank which is
used only if the wastewater is to be reused. A One-Pass EC
Mini-Package is the treatment unit. Then solids separation vessels
follow. No biocide for odor control is required with KASELCO
packages. KASELCO
reactors meet National Electric Code criteria for human safety, but
bacteria are electrocuted. And no polymer is required
with these packages. Read the "Marina Mini-Package" brochure for
more details.
